Year 5 – English
Year 5 is where students begin to handle more demanding texts and write with greater control and maturity. They read across a wider range of text types, including written and multimodal texts, and learn to explain how texts create meaning through structure, language choices and techniques. At NexGen Tutoring, our Year 5 English program is aligned with the Australian Curriculum and continues to develop the three key strands of Language, Literature and Literacy.
Across the year, students work with fiction, nonfiction, media texts and poetry. They practise deeper comprehension, build richer vocabulary, and learn to craft more detailed, well-structured writing. Lessons combine explicit teaching, guided practice and independent work, supported by structured worksheets and regular feedback so students develop confidence and consistency.
