Year 10 – English
Year 10 English is where students sharpen the skills they will rely on in senior school: strong interpretation, clear argument, and controlled expression. Texts are often more complex, more multimodal, and more connected to real-world issues, requiring students to evaluate perspectives, make links between texts, and communicate ideas with sophistication. At NexGen Tutoring, our Year 10 English program is aligned with the Australian Curriculum and continues to develop the three key strands of Language, Literature and Literacy.
Across the year, students work with novels, short stories, poetry, drama, nonfiction, speeches, journalism and film/media texts. They learn to build thesis-driven responses, write with purposeful structure, and demonstrate deeper reasoning in both written and spoken tasks. Lessons combine explicit teaching, modelling and frequent practice, supported by structured worksheets and targeted feedback.
